AFallout 4player has shared an image of Sturges in a surprising location. Sturges is one of the first NPCs that players can meet inFallout 4, encountered in the Museum of Freedom. However, this location is somewhere unexpected for the repairman.
TheFalloutfranchise is no stranger to bugs like this. Upon its release,Fallout 76was one of the buggiest releasesthe gaming mainstream had seen for a long time, and it took years to get the game to a playable state. In comparison, it made any issuesFallout 4had with bugs look tame. Unfortunately, it’s inevitable that when working on games of this size, there are going to be some glitches that fall through the cracks.

Reddit user Carter5044 posted the picture of Sturges, who appears to be stuck on one of the homes inFallout 4’s main settlement, Sanctuary Hills. The player offered no explanation as to how the situation occurred, and they seemed as surprised as others in the thread. One user had a plausible explanation for the issue, explaining that when players re-enter an area, the game figures out where NPCs should be, and drops them there. In this situation, Sturges was supposed to be in the house, and an engine issue instead dropped him on top of the house. This could likely be resolved by leaving the area for a while.
With this explanation, it seems that this glitch is another result of Bethesda’s famously glitchy game engine. Every Bethesda title is known for having a huge amount of bugs, with visual glitches like this particularly prominent.Skyrimis perhaps Bethesda’s biggest offender in this regard, with an abundance of clips out there of players experiencing strange glitches in Tamriel. OneSkyrimglitch even makes a potato look possessed. WhileFallout 4is generally regarded as quite a buggy game, it was definitely an improvement over Bethesda’s previous title.
Hopefully the upcomingnext-gen update forFallout 4will continue to fix some of these smaller bugs that continue to plague the game. They’re not a huge problem, and gamers have played the game for almost eight years now without a fix, but it would still be great for Bethesda to continue to support the title. It still maintains a solid player base across all platforms, so it will be interesting to see how much new content the next-gen upgrade will bring for those still playing.
